A letter from the pastoral team

As we come into a significant time of the year for the Christian calendar, we are excited about the opportunities that it presents to us as believers. Because of this, we are inviting everyone to join us in Prayer and Fasting for 10 days in the lead up to the Easter weekend.

Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.
— HEBREWS 11:1

Come to one or all, as we gather, and pray together! OR if you can’t make it, why not gather a few people at other times to pray OR commit to praying at home at these times.

For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.
— MATTHEW 2:28

SOME IDEAS FOR FASTING:

Too often, the focus of fasting is on the lack of food or other things we are going without.  Instead, the purpose of fasting should be to take our eyes off the things of this world, AND FOCUS ON GOD.  Fasting, combined with fervent prayer, creates opportunities for breakthrough. It helps us to gain a new perspective and a renewed reliance upon God. Anything you can temporarily give up in order to better focus on God can be considered a fast.  We would ask that you really pray about what it is that you will fast and don’t just take the easy option, and please consider factors like health or age and be wise in your decision. A few suggestions are:

The focus is not what you are missing out on - food, social media, TV, etc. - but rather what you are a part of e.g. lives being transformed, God’s presence activated, drawing closer to Him. The sacrifice that you make is a reminder to pray and spend time in God’s presence. For instance, the time we spend on Social Media normally, we would choose to pray or worship or read the Word instead with a focus on the points above.

Please let us know the testimonies that we believe will come out of this time as we agree together in prayer.
