Depression and Hope


Reduce the duration and severity of depression and discover the life of hope after depression.

This information and education course on depression and hope is a six week course designed for people who

  • Have or are suffering from depression

  • Are family members of sufferers

  • Would like to learn more about how they can support suffers of depression

The Course has been developed to provide information and education on activities that can be undertaken to reduce the duration and severity of depression, and give an understanding of how we can manage ongoing depression with hope, or recover to live a life of hope after depression.

The Depression and Hope Course is conducted over six two hour sessions and is facilitated by people who have understanding and experience in dealing with depression.
We also engage professionals with insight and expertise in their area of speciality.


The course covers six topic areas:

  •  Introduction, what is depression and tips in managing it – Garry O’Dell

  • Psychology of depression – Psychologist

  • Exercise and the impact on your body and brain - Exercise Physiologist

  • Managing your mental health – Art Therapist

  • Managing relationships – Family member with lived experience

  • Managing ongoing depression and living with hope – Garry O’Dell and Bruce Kay
